slip slidin'

They promised snow--we got 1/4" of ice. I can hardly WAIT for Winter to start! :(

Meanwhile, Keith got the "I'll call you tomorrow..." from his boss and hasn't heard another word for 2 weeks. Needless to say, he re-opened his unemployment insurance claim...and thanks to the Federal extension--has started getting a check. Merry Christmas to us!

For our AZ and TX friends...you aren't missing anything up here! We've just had a week of single digit, windy weather here. It's been so cold here, we couldn't have gotten the 5th wheel out onto the road, if we had tried!

Most of our time has been spent at the Coffee House, keeping up on local issues, solving the World's Problems, and drinking too much coffee... :) Then there was the K-5th grade Holiday program (I refuse to call it a Christmas program anymore--now that they aren't allowed to put anything remotely religious into it), and the 6 yr. old's Dance Recital, and the Jr. High-High School program. Funny, the school isn't any smaller than when we were in HS, but there were only about a dozen kids in the Chorus and about that many in the Band... We filled the gym with our band and choir! Sad to see so little interest in music....

So, anyhow, I'm off to the kitchen to mix up a bowl of sugar cookie dough to bake later. No way I'm stepping out the door! I can fall on level, dry surfaces! Have a good day!

Autumn

October in the Midwest was beautiful! Didn't rain hardly any--in fact we were under a burn ban!

Keith is still working the I-69 job and living away from home in the truck camper. No way of knowing how long the job will last, but he's not inclined to break camp here on the Hill and move the 5er to the campground. In his usual, pessimistic manner, he figures the job will end as soon as he goes to the trouble of moving! We're both pretty sick of living apart, but there's not much to tempt me to down there, anyhow. He's working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day, so it's not like we'd see much of each other!

Today I finally got my dental work done, and am not enjoying my evening much. Had the last teeth extracted and the lower denture put in. I'm now, officially, a 'toothless old hag', I guess!

I've been cranking out bead bracelets on my little loom. Making orange & black "Tigers" ones to sell to the local sports fans. At $4 each, I won't get rich, but profit is profit! :)

November is making a good start towards Winter here. Temps have been up and down--down to low 20s tomorrow nite, then back up into the 60s next week. I could be talked into going South for the Winter! :D

Summer

It's been a long, hot, boring summer--except for the nearly daily visits to the local Coffee House. The biggest excitement was the demolition of the building that took up 1/3 of the remaining block of 'downtown', and the removal of a bank vault that had been there since 1896.

Keith finally got sent out to work--during the 2 hottest weeks of the whole summer, naturally. He's 'batching' it in the truck camper, while I hold down the fort. His job is about 70 miles away from here...camping rent is $300 a month. We can do the math! And, with working 10 hour days, the old man is better off living closer to the job! He has a 1/2 hour drive--which is plenty. If he's still on the same job in Nov., we'll move the 5th wheel and set up for the winter, I think.

Progress!

Last nite I cut my own fingernails for the first time in 5 months! Doesn't sound like much, I know, but when you've had to have someone else do it every time....

We're STILL unloading the camper and the trailer! The heat and humidity and attacking skeeters have slowed us down even more than normal! First on today's list is a trip to buy benedryl cream for the bites!

There was a wreck in front of our house, just before dark last nite. We never heard a sound, over the tv, fan and AC--plus, the truck and camper are parked between us and the road! Poor girl was having a driving lesson in the family van, with Mom and her siblings. Lost it on the loose gravel, over-corrected and hit the light pole. Our lights never even blinked, so she didn't hit it hard--but the van looked awful--everyone seemed fine. Took Crawford County's Finest at least 30 minutes to get here! Makes ya feel safe....

I learned that my cell phone is getting it's signal from the next County--so we will have to tell them which County we're in if we call 911 again, so they can transfer us! Altho, they might be able to get someone here faster than Crawford County....

I'm working on beaded headbands for the Biker Rally in SD next month, but I don't think I'm going to get many done at the rate I'm going. I've got a lady with a craft store waiting for them, but between having to wear my ancient glasses until we can afford to replace the broken ones and my aching shoulder, progress has been slow! I'm still beading the first one! And she wants key rings, too! Maybe by NEXT summer....

Okay, getting dressed and heading for that benedryl....

Back in IL

Here we are, surrounded by overgrown grass/weeds and starving hordes of mosquitoes--back in the Land of Lincoln. Already been to the Coffee Shop and seen nearly everyone we know, except for our kids and grandkids.

And now the mowing and unpacking and cleaning and laundry and fixing what's broke begin!

Trip home was fairly uneventful--the front brake on the truck was merely finnicky, instead of locking clear up. (hopefully that will get fixed/replaced soon) We did the trip in 2 days so we'd make it here before the mad, mad July 4th traffic got bad! Rolled into our driveway at about 9PM and went to bed in our camper bunks! We went so far as to battle our way thru the biting hordes to open up the 5th wheel so it could cool down, at least....

We had packed our camper fridge tight with frozen meat and goodies, turned up the cold and locked the door--and everything was still frozen solid when we got here. I love that little fridge!

We were a bit sad to leave our house in Kadoka (note that it's now called a 'house' instead of a 'shack'?) It's going to be a cute little place..... :)

Visitors!

JD & Marie came to visit! :) They were headed East, after a trip to Alaska (I am SO jealous!) It was great to see them--even tho I broke my glasses at breakfast and wasn't seeing them as well as I normally would! :D Worst part of the day? I totally forgot to take a picture while they were here!

In fact, I spent the day in a haze--until Keith went to working his magic and gave my glasses a JB Weld nose piece! Not quite as bad as the old days when ya held them together with tape. Good thing, too cause the old tape method would have really screwed with my bifocals!

Meanwhile, I *think* the plumbing is officially hooked up! At last. Bathroom is almost ready for rugs and such! There's a bed in the bedroom, and 2 dressers. The living room furniture is in it's proper room (room being minus the offending wall that someone had seen fit to put up across it!), but surrounded by sheets of paneling, boards, plywood, tools, etc....

I think we're going to wrap this trip up this weekend, but with this contractor, one never knows!

winding down

Last week, in amongst the exhausting work, Keith took time off to take the neighbor to Rapid to load up a few things that had been given to us by a long-time friend. They came back with a pickup load of scrap iron that she'd convinced them to take. That load was transferred to the neighbor's bigger truck and another trip was made to load more steel and 'stuff'.... Lost 2 remodeling days that week, since I'm not allowed (nor is it even POSSIBLE!) for me to navigate this construction zone and get anything useful done that requires such things as "two-handed reaching", "ladder climbing", etc. :(

But, as soon as it quits drizzling/raining, Keith will crawl back under the house and finish hooking up the fixtures and we'll have a completed bathroom! Meanwhile, we managed to get the chimney that someone in years past had built a hallway around, torn down and the much larger hallway is being finished.

Yeah, I know. construction details are boring!

Friday we're packing up the camper and heading for the hills on an over-nighter in the aforementioned friend's driveway! A mini-vacation! Then back here to unload/load the trailer for the trip back to the heat and steam of IL--and hopefully a paying job, since we've spent all we had at Menard's and the local Hardware Hanks!

Today is one of those days where we look at each other and wonder if we'll live long enough to finish this place and actually get to USE it!

Busy, busy....

Boy am I behind, or what?

Let's see. Wednesday we found out that the USPS is forwarding only the mail it feels like forwarding. Called the H'ville PO and found that everything was being sent to St. Louis, just like it was supposed to--so the fact that we haven't gotten several pieces of mail we were expecting? Gonna cure that. I told her to quit forwarding anything and my 'new' mailman' is going to send me a packet once a week! :)

Then there was Thursday. Trip to Rapid Day. This time, the wheels of choice was the old pickup, so we could haul more junk home from Charlotte's, like fence posts. So up the street we went, to get gas and head West. Kah-thump, kah-thump, kah-thump.... First thing on Keith's list was to get the tire with the bump on it changed--when we got to Rapid. The day before, I had suggested that it might be wise to get it dealt with BEFORE we left??? "Oh, no!", he says. "It got Jim & me there and back last year!" Kah-thump, kah thump... Up onto I-90 and 10 miles down the road--KAH-BAM, KAH-BAM, KAH BAM! I didn't say a WORD.

Friday was plumbing day--where he crawled under the house and I sat at his beck and call while he built drains under the bathroom. And then dragged him out of the hole, one-handed....

Saturday, I was the dumb flunkie again...while he glued up the shower walls, hanged wallpaper (which I had not bought enough of--my daughter is the math whiz, not me!), installed the toilet... Fun stuff, like that. I also knocked down, carried out, stacked chimney bricks. We're going to have to go back to IL just to rest!

So, Tuesday we'll be off to the City again--for more wallpaper and another load of fence posts and a giant flower pot from Charlotte's never-ending collection of stuff she doesn't want to fool with trying to sell. I have a running tab on the stuff she does want to sell that I get first dibs on. So far, there's a flat screen tv (which doesn't work in Kadoka, of course!), a couple of dressers, a cool table, and more. That will be Thursday's trip! :D

So, now you're up to date--except for my on-going battle with the B who runs the Post Office. She got her $28 for a PO box this time. I don't know what she told them when they called to check on my complaint, but I do know what she told ME. "You don't live there. You came in a camper and you could leave again in the middle of the night!" Gosh, if everyone in this little town were as friendly to new folks as she is, it would have dried up a long time ago! Nothing like being called homeless trash in the middle of the local post office! So, Tuesday, I'm calling the H'ville Postmaster to find out how the USPS hierarchy works, cause their Customer Service division didn't work for me. Last year we were residents and this year we're homeless-in-Kadoka? I drove around town and saw several campers and RVs sitting in people's yards--are they all homeless like us? The story will continue.... :)

We have 'Weather' out here!

Just another typical day in the Dakotas. Started out muggy, little storms all around, and then one of those 'mother storms' that leaves the puppies shaking under the bed and piles of white stuff--this time in chunks! These pics were taken about 20 minutes after the storm rocked through, about supper time.

The vinyl is down in the bathroom and the "Kadoka Walmart" medicine cabinet is up! Today we'll sand and seal the walls and tomorrow the wallpaper! :) And then....TA DA! Fixtures. The head plumber ran into yet another snag yesterday when he discovered a floor joist exactly where the toilet drain goes--he was NOT a happy camper!

And on the camping front, the water pump in the camper quit doing it's thing. :( Then LD came home from work and said, "Oh, I have 2 of those out in my storage shed!" We keep trying to come up with things he doesn't have spares of, but so far....

I had one of those "Gee, I am useless!" days. After knocking down half the chimney the nite before, even my GOOD arm was pretty useless! So, I baked bread for supper.... And spent the day looking for whatever tools Keith had laid down in a pile and couldn't find.

Today promises to be a fine day! Sunny, clear, and a high of about 75! One day rocks fall from the sky and the next day it's a beautiful day. Is this a great place, or what?

Monday, May 24, 2010

crashing again?

Ah, yes. Forgot to mention that the old Dell is acting up. Don't know if it's actually the computer, or maybe the Verizon card--either way, neither Firefox nor IE is working right.... So if you're looking for me and I'm not here, I may have gone, briefly, to the land of the Internet-less.

Another weekend in Sunny SD

Well, the old pickup got it's steering column replaced--and the 'boys' were off to the dump (loving referred to as "The Kadoka Walmart" with a full load of debris. They came back with 2 pair of aluminum crutches, a spare rv propane tank, 3 bicycles for brother Jim,

and I-forget-what-else. Loaded up up more debris and went again! Then discovered that the tail lights weren't working (mechanic error, perhaps?)

Then, back to the construction and destruction! Keith is still slaving over the bathroom remodel, and I'm still swinging a hammer at the part of the chimney that goes down through our hallway. Ugh. What with a 'wing-and-a-half', my good arm is getting quite a workout. I'll have one shoulder and arm that resemble a blacksmith's and one that, well, just doesn't! :)

As of last nite, all the mudding is done in the bathroom! Once it dries, it'll be time for primer and then glueing in the shower stall! Then we'll put up the fancy, flaw-hiding wallpaper and install the toilet and sink! Wheeeeee! Meanwhile, the chimney is down to shoulder-high and I'm sick of carrying bricks out 2 at a time!

And so it goes. This morning I get time out to haul laundry to town and back and hang it out (shoulder PT--the cheap kind). Unless it rains--it's clouding up here....

Friday, May 21, 2010

off to the City

The little old Dodge made it! All the way there, and back again! :) Blew the last of our money at Menards (big surprise). Poor little car had to haul the equivalent of 5 people back to Kadoka! Quite a load of buckets and bags of cement-y stuff and fittings and goodness only knows what else!

Boot shop guy couldn't fix Keith's boots, so they have to go to Redwing. Gun shop guys weren't interested in buying guns. Jeweler said, "Oops, that's not one of OUR bracelets--take it to BHG" but he kept the ring to fix. Then there was a quick stop at the Packrats Palace, where I bought a big Breadman 810 bread maker for less than $ 10! It's busily doing it's 'thing' as I type. :D

Finally, we got to go visit our friends at the swanky RV park, which was great fun! They're 'Winter Texans' and had several stories to tell! I liked the one where she had been and had a heart test done--the kind where they inject radioactive stuff into your veins.... Next day, they went to Mexico and shopped, and got waved down on their way back to Texas, and detained for hours while Border Patrol decided that she was NOT a terrorist bomb! She had set off their Gamma detector, or some such thing on the way INTO Mexico, but they waited to nail her until she was headed back into the States!

And now we're back to the bathroom....

A door no more!

And behind the door that is no more, is almost a bathroom! Green board is up, cement board is down. Soon, there will be vinyl on the floor, and fixtures installed! Progress!

On the other hand, I found out today that the insurance company's oh-so-generous $2000 physical therapy limit ran out a month ago and they haven't even notified me, yet! Needless to say, I'm no longer going to pt. When they do finally notify me, then I can appeal.... I can hardly wait to hear the explosion when Dr. Pete finds out that I have been denied any more pt.

Tomorrow we're off to the City to visit friends, drop of some Black Hills gold jewelry to be repaired, and pick up a few of the items on our shopping list... Hopefully, our little SD car is up to the challenge....

Weekend review

Well, it rained. And then it didn't. And then it was cloudy and then it was sunny! :)

But progress continues on the bathroom work, we have guttering on the front of the shack, I planted my hastas (in the rain), got free zebra grass at the plant exchange and planted it (in the rain).... the old appliances are now outside, instead of inside....

and today, we got a real back door installed! Whoop! :D

Tomorrow's agenda includes more bathroom work, and a visit to the Court House to get the Dodge titled and licensed.

Exciting times, in Kadoka, SD.

but WAIT!

Yesterday we had 1" or more of snow... Today, the sun came out and the temp went to 60! And a window happened! Actually, that's where the old window was--new one is being installed as I type! :)

And tomorrow I am going to have to MOW! Eeeeek! One of the drawbacks to livin' in the City!

white stuff--nuff said

Rain or snow?

43 degree drizzle today. Gee, I don't remember this stuff LAST May! :(

So, while I basically did nothing today, Keith & LD made the 200 mile round trip to Menards for our new shower!

Sure, it doesn't look like much, yet... But someday it will look like this:

In between, there will be much cussing and fussing, but hey, it's a work in progress....

The weather folk tell us it's going to be in the 70s and sunny on Monday...next week!!!

RAIN!

Well, here we are. We fought headwinds and crosswinds to get here--and the next day the wind shifted to the East! Keith says it'll be blowing from the East when we head back that direction, too! So far, Winter has returned to SD--not sure what that's all about! Supposed to be Spring here in May! Today it's pouring rain out of a bucket.... COLD rain.

My first helpful act when we got here was to have the water turned back on. I told the guys I was going to do it. So, about 9 AM, I called and the lady said someone would be up to take care of it soon. And he was and he did. Keith was still sleeping off the 3 days of driving. 1/2 an hour later, I woke him up and mentioned that I had the water on. He leaped out of bed, muttering oaths and headed for the house...where there was a 4" deep wading pool in the basement. Nobody TOLD me the valve had been opened after the water was turned off last winter! :(

Friday I went to Philip for my first PT. Turns out they don't have an Occupational Therapist on staff, which is what I'd been seeing, but I guess it'll be fine. I've made a lot of progress. So, I'm back on my 3 day a week torture schedule, plus over-doing around here.

Like, Saturday, for instance. We loaded up in the neighbors' ton-and-a-half truck and headed for the City to do our shopping. After about 4 times of struggling to heave my bulk up and into that cab with one arm, I was done. And just stayed put! Needless to say, the wimpy arm felt like it was about a foot longer at the end of the day! But, we brought home a pedestal sink and a toilet from the Habitat ReStore--and looked at a lot of showers! I think we've finally found one that will squeeze into our miniature bathroom.... Would sure be nice if there was a store where they sold RV appliances and furniture.....

Keith has cut the new bathroom door and my job today is to remove the old door frame and hardware. He has been working at a slower pace this year--but it's been so darned cold!

I tried sleeping in the old recliner in the house last nite. It was marginally better than the bunk in the truck camper....but only just. And the place smells like dust! :(

And now...off to get cleaned up for PT.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Ma & Pa Holmes take to the Open Road!

Finally, Monday morning we headed out! Our 17 year old dually, with it's 25 year old S & S slide-in camper were loaded up. Keith had my mom's 18 year old little Dodge car on the flat bed, filled and surrounded by every conceivable thing we might need in our SD shack, including a Queen sized Posture Pedic bed! We were READY!

It took us all morning to travel the first 60 miles! 10 miles up the road, a front brake started to smell funky, but got over it. Pulled in for fuel about 45 minutes down the road, and discovered that one of the inside dual tires had popped its valve stem and was trashed. Luckily, there was a good tire shop nearby. So, the rest of the morning was spent dealing with tires and checking out the offending brake....

At 9 that nite, we pulled into a Walmart near St. Joseph, MO and spent the night, without electricity, of course. And without the converter to run Keith's Bi-Pap machine! So, today, while faced with 25 mph winds hitting us broadside, Keith was exhausted before he had started by lack of sleep... :( We almost made it to Sioux City, IA before the wind and a stuck front brake, drove us to seek a real campground. And here we are....wind is blowing, sky is black and occasionally it rains...and it's getting COLD!

Meanwhile, there's this old lady in SD who keeps calling to see where we are and telling us to hurry up and get there! We're working on it....

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Still packing....

Well, this is the day we were planning to leave....

Instead, Keith had 7 teeth pulled! :( New plan is to leave Saturday! This would be so simple if all we had to do was zip up the RV, hook on the hauler truck and go, but that's not what's happening! Packing my mom's old Dodge, clear to the roof (we don't even want to go into what all is in there!); loading it onto a flatbed trailer; loading lumber and tools; figuring out how to load a mattress, box springs and and L-shaped section of second-hand countertop.... 'sigh' Oh, and a turkey fryer! ;D and a bucket of hastas.... and maybe the push mower.... LOL!

Now I just have to put a polish on the inside of the truck camper, fill it with supplies and clothes, load stuff into the fridge and we can hook up and go....

Let's see... Friday will be the day the Union Hall calls Keith for a job that starts Monday, right?

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Almost on the road again...

A week from now, we'll be headed West, finally! Hopefully. That's the plan, anyhow. I've put our internet service on vacation, as of next Sat., and, will have activated my Vcard--which doesn't work worth a darn, here in our IL location. Plus, I am already set up for therapy appointments in
SD, starting a week from Wednesday! Now all I have to do is get myself in gear and get READY.

Therapy is going okay, I guess. Seems like my strength and range-of-motion are improving at a snail's pace, but the doc didn't fuss and the therapist says I'm doing great... Still got a numb pinky, so my typing is not up to snuff, of course, but at least it's 2 handed! :)

Monday, April 12, 2010

And so it continues...

I got infected! worms, trojans, viruses--oh, my! My dear friend, Pam, spent the weekend toiling over my computer. Finally, it's up & running--for now! And then she went out and bought me a new laptop! For a Mother's Day gift, she said! Needless to say, THIS laptop is loaded with anti virus programs!

Meanwhile, the pt continues... I'm slowly improving--very slowly, but improving.

Plans still continue for an April move to SD. I'm not able to do much but plan & supervise, but we'll get there! Our little 'shack is calling! :) Our neighbors are so impatient that they have been in and done some clean-up work already!

Tiny success: I finished stitching the 'quilt in progress'! It's D-O-N-E! :)

Thursday, March 25, 2010

pt

Am being tortured 3 days a week...but it seems to be making a difference! I can even type 2 handed--albeit slowly!

Keith is off to Indy to see an oral surgeon, and then get the report on Tuesday's test, from his VA doc. I'm waiting for my ride to Terre Haute to lunch with Marsha and a pair of Lanas.

I have decreed that we will be on the Road for SD before the end of April...SO SHALL IT BE! Lots to do before then, and I work slowly, but we have a home to finish!

mending

FINALLY got some pain meds that worked! :) just over 4 weeks since the 2nd surgery--starting pt today. p=pain, t=twice (when the make ya move, & when ya get the bill!) i'm scheduled to see a neurologist next week, but have decided to 'bag' that one! he's got tests to see where & if the nerves are damaged--all of which involve needles & PAIN. i already know that all the nerves are intact! went to see a chiro who does sports injuries & am going back! i've had a few good days since then--if laundry, cooking, dishwashing, & vacuuming can be considered 'good'! keith still won't let me drive any more than the 4 miles of backroads to the coffee shop....

i managed to start crocheting a dishcloth! and last nite even stitched some of the binding on the current quilt. beginning to believe i will recover! :)

Saturday, February 27, 2010

almost march!

can it be? is this looooong winter nearly done?

tuesday will make it month since i did my swan dive into the porch post! somehow, it seems longer.... i am still wearing the ever-so-attractive, 7" zipper the surgeon had 2 remove and replace in my shoulder 2 weeks ago when i had the 2nd surgery. i will never be able to sew a metal zipper into any clothing again! (assuming that hand ever works again!)

got a wonderful 'pity call' from my friend marie the other day! what a nice surprise--& fun to hear of their upcoming spring trip!

so, monday is supposed to be the Day, when the staples come out! woo-hoo! :) then it's on to my baby steps therapy while we wait on the nerve to my hand to finish healing. it must be trying, bcause it hurts worse.... weird, huh?

okay, enough hunting 4 the letters all over the keyboard!

here's a link to our clever daughter's newly published knit sock pattern... http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter09/PATTskew.php

have a great weekend!

more snow

more?

yup--more. seems i smashed instead of just 'broke'. had surgery a week ago--& have to do more tomorrow morning! :( that's supposed to be all--then 8 - 10 weeks to heal & then a LOT of rehab! poor keith is learning 2 b the chief cook & bottle washer... 4 the first time in his life!

i tried to work on a quilt one day-- couldn't thread a needle! *sigh* so, crafting is out! thank goodness 4 the internet! :)

Saturday, February 6, 2010

not going to b doing much blogging or crafting 4 a while. dislocated, and broke shoulder--plus stretching nerve that goes 2 hand. trussed up like T'giving turkey, waiting 4 surgery nxt Tues.

Winter blahs

Is it Spring, yet?

Okay, so it hasn't been a total bummer, but it's sure getting old!

Dawn and her snowman. One of the perks of being stuck here! :)

And then there was last week's reunion with a few old, good friends....

Keith is unemployed again--after all, it's January! (until midnite!) So he's underfoot, wreaking havoc, at times!

For instance, look what he did to my fancy 5th wheel!

All we need now is an old couch sitting out front.... We already have piles of firewood, lumber, and concrete blocks. Not to mention the RV hauler with lumber piled on it, a car on a dolly--abandoned here by a gypsy Marine, my mom's old car--packed for the next trip to SD and a one-ton truck & camper--waiting for a brake job! It's only an acre lot, after all!

So, I have my annual "fall down" out of the way for 2010, as of yesterday. On an errand of mercy to fetch Keith a sandwich--just a short hike from the antique shop to the convenience mart deli. My weak ankle found a spot I hadn't seen and folded into a hole--dumping me on the ground--just in time for the local cop to drive by and stop to offer assistance to the old, fat lady lying in the driveway.... *sigh* Hopefully, that was the last and only time that'll happen this year! :)

Taxes have been e-filed (YIPPEE!). That may be a 'record' for us! Now, to hang onto the refund until we get to SD in March--so we can finish up the shack! :)

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting the Groundhog's verdict....

Winter

Okay, enough of this super cold winter weather, now. It's all the way up to 7 right now. On the other hand, when I got up this morning, it was -19 in Kadoka, so maybe this isn't TOO bad.....

This RV remains a thorn in our frosty sides. We've discovered that they didn't bother with a silly thing like insulation in the fifth wheel extention in front--which is where the closet and 1/2 the bed are! Took my boxes of 'quilting stash' out the other day and discovered damp carpet and frosty walls near the floor! Boy did they see us coming, or what? Keith has already spent a week under the RV insulating the area under the fresh water tank and along the rest of the bottom--and installing a heat tape on the interior pipes. And have I mentioned the effect of extreme cold outdoors and heat indoors when the super-structure is made of aluminum? Aluminum transfers cold quite nicely--so all the walls radiate COLD! If only we hadn't paid the premium bucks for a 'supposed' 4-season rig.... *sigh* The mortgage is just now getting down to the 3-season prices, after 4 years!

That's this morning's rant. I've done it before, and I'll probably do it again..... Sorry. But we could have bought a decent house for what this thing cost us! All because it was supposed to be a 'top of the line' , year round 'home'. Yeah, year round in FLORIDA, maybe!
