Winter blahs

Is it Spring, yet?

Okay, so it hasn't been a total bummer, but it's sure getting old!

Dawn and her snowman. One of the perks of being stuck here! :)

And then there was last week's reunion with a few old, good friends....

Keith is unemployed again--after all, it's January! (until midnite!) So he's underfoot, wreaking havoc, at times!

For instance, look what he did to my fancy 5th wheel!

All we need now is an old couch sitting out front.... We already have piles of firewood, lumber, and concrete blocks. Not to mention the RV hauler with lumber piled on it, a car on a dolly--abandoned here by a gypsy Marine, my mom's old car--packed for the next trip to SD and a one-ton truck & camper--waiting for a brake job! It's only an acre lot, after all!

So, I have my annual "fall down" out of the way for 2010, as of yesterday. On an errand of mercy to fetch Keith a sandwich--just a short hike from the antique shop to the convenience mart deli. My weak ankle found a spot I hadn't seen and folded into a hole--dumping me on the ground--just in time for the local cop to drive by and stop to offer assistance to the old, fat lady lying in the driveway.... *sigh* Hopefully, that was the last and only time that'll happen this year! :)

Taxes have been e-filed (YIPPEE!). That may be a 'record' for us! Now, to hang onto the refund until we get to SD in March--so we can finish up the shack! :)

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting the Groundhog's verdict....

Winter

Okay, enough of this super cold winter weather, now. It's all the way up to 7 right now. On the other hand, when I got up this morning, it was -19 in Kadoka, so maybe this isn't TOO bad.....

This RV remains a thorn in our frosty sides. We've discovered that they didn't bother with a silly thing like insulation in the fifth wheel extention in front--which is where the closet and 1/2 the bed are! Took my boxes of 'quilting stash' out the other day and discovered damp carpet and frosty walls near the floor! Boy did they see us coming, or what? Keith has already spent a week under the RV insulating the area under the fresh water tank and along the rest of the bottom--and installing a heat tape on the interior pipes. And have I mentioned the effect of extreme cold outdoors and heat indoors when the super-structure is made of aluminum? Aluminum transfers cold quite nicely--so all the walls radiate COLD! If only we hadn't paid the premium bucks for a 'supposed' 4-season rig.... *sigh* The mortgage is just now getting down to the 3-season prices, after 4 years!

That's this morning's rant. I've done it before, and I'll probably do it again..... Sorry. But we could have bought a decent house for what this thing cost us! All because it was supposed to be a 'top of the line' , year round 'home'. Yeah, year round in FLORIDA, maybe!
