Such a drag that Mr. Fixer-upper has to work for a living! He goes to work and spends his day fretting and stewing about this and that thing he wants to fix next.
Some of the things we know so far. The 30 yr-old AC unit works well! The 30 yr.-old (costs $1200 to replace at the rv stores) refrigerator doesn't work at all. :( Luckily, Lowes, etc. sells 7-8 cu. ft fridges that will fit. The entrance door has to be replaced or rebuilt. (a new one of those runs $600!) An old RV is a hole at the edge of the highway into which you pour money. Let's see--we still have to deal with the tire switching. Engine needs a good going over....
So, yesterday we drove to Bloomington to look at a 1978 motorhome almost identical to ours (parts!) that was being sold for $1000. We're thinking "if we can get it home, and it has even a few of the things we need for ours, we can scrap the rest. It's got an aluminum frame and skin, after all! But, LOL! That guy is gonna have to pay someone to haul that heap away! Not us! Luckily, it was a nice day for a drive and we stopped off at a parts store, and then visited a friend who lives on a big lake....
Rained again today. Mini-bugs are still bad. But the temp is down in the 70s. :)
Called Social Security and signed up for my monthly check today! Too bad I didn't draw wages for all those years of working on the farm.... I don't feel a bit bad about being a 'kept woman' now! :) If my "boss" had paid in to SS, I'd be getting a much nicer check....
