So far, June hasn't been our best month. Friday night, my Mom passed away--after 4 years in a Nursing home, and the last few months in and out of the hospital. She suffered from Dementia, and these last few months, she mostly didn't know where she was or why. She was 80, and while the finality of death is painful, it was worse to watch her fail.
Keith has now been laid off for 3 weeks, while they keep telling him that 'in a few days' they will go back to the job they were doing before the flooding. Today he off to the Union Hall for a couple of days of OSHA training, in case the power plant job gets under way first.
We adopted a funny little puppy yesterday. I had been looking for an adult dog to adopt this time, but kept coming up against roadblocks... I hadn't intended to go through the whole 'puppy' thing again! But he's a cute little Yorkie/Shih-tzu mix--a bit of a "wild man"! We have a black covered dog bed and when he's in it, all you can see is the tiny bit of white on his tail! Keith is already crazy about him, Kizzee-the-rat-terrierist is thoroughly UNimpressed. She thought she was back to being the only dog here.
This is supposed to be a cooler, more comfortable day, so I guess my mission is to get some grass chewed back. The gnats have been horrible this year and the mosquitoes are leaving thumbnail-sized knots when they bite--and they are starting in, with a vengeance!
